I stare at you.
A silver tear-trail
on a glossy cheek
breaks your heart.
You want to know my story....
I cannot tell you.
My age has made me mute.
I am but dust and
a face with a silver
tear-trail.
For sale.

Thank you for the image prompt Magpie Tales
And yet her face speaks volumes...
ReplyDeleteIt is as if this photo is speaking--beseechingly--to us.
ReplyDeleteHi Jinksy ~ doesn't it though. Such a poignant image. This is all I could manage today. Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteHi Sioux...yes, and the feelings I had about it were much more than I was able to express...but I had to try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for calling in.
This photo has struck such a wonderful chord in so many... a longing to know and understand her.
ReplyDeleteHi Reflections...yes exactly. It makes me wish that somehow, somewhere she feels this. Thank you for visiting.
ReplyDeleteYes, I wonder what she would think...She could never imagine the world we live in that we could all be seeing her photo, which was in her time technologically advanced... Lovely, poignant post.
ReplyDeleteI loved your poem, for it
ReplyDeletecreates life from the inanimate,
which reinforces the notion
that images do contain, have
stolen a tiny part of the sacred
soul, and you connected with the
spark, let it move through you,
let it use your lips, and your
voice, and your heart, just for
a wondrous moment,
I hope you're right. I hope she knows we care.

This face has really stirred up so much about her...you found a good angle!
ReplyDelete"I am but dust"... And yet, she is still connecting. Wonderful
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I wondered if anyone would pick up on the reflection that looks like a tear trail.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first Magpie I have read that makes something of the reflection or printing imperfection at the side of her nose. An interesting Magpie.
ReplyDeleteNice one. Age has made her mute, but there's still a question in her expression.
ReplyDeleteI am dust - yes, but she exudes an energy and question, even so. Nicely crafted.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a tear trail! Perhaps its what subconsciously made my post sad lol Lovely =)
ReplyDeleteOoh this is good!
